content

The main character is Dagobert Duck ( Scrooge McDuck ), who up to that point only appeared in three films, including Scrooge McDuck and Money (1966) and Mickey's Christmas Carol (1983), and a few commercials. In DuckTales - News from Duckburg he is accompanied by Donald Duck's nephews Tick, Trick and Track ( Huey, Dewey and Louie ); But also some characters from the Disney comics invented by Carl Barks , which have never been seen in the film before, make their appearance, such as Daniel Düsentrieb ( Gyro Gearloose ), Gustav Gans ( Gladstone Gander ), Mac Moneysac ( Flintheart Glomgold ) or the witch Gundel Gaukeley ( Magica De Spell ).

The equally by Carl Barks invented and appearing in numerous Disney comics Beagle Boys ( Beagle Boys ) had appeared, although the 1987 short film Goofy football fever ( Sport Goofy in Soccer Mania ) their first animated appearance were, but in animated form for the first time in the series DuckTales - New introduced from Duckburg as different personalities and given their own names. The most famous tank crackers from DuckTales are Oma Knack ( Ma Beagle ), Karlchen Knack ( Bigtime Beagle ), Burger Knack ( Burger Beagle ), Kuno Knack ( Bouncer Beagle ), Schlabber Knack ( Baggy Beagle ), Bankjob Knack ( Bankjob Beagle ), Babyface Knack ( Babyface Beagle ), Knubbel Knack ( Bugle Beagle or Bebop Beagle ) and Megabyte Knack ( Megabyte Beagle ).

The characters Quack, the Bruchpilot ( Launchpad McQuack ), the butler Johann ( Duckworth ) and the governess Frieda ( Mrs. Beakley ) together with her granddaughter Nicky ( Webby Vanderquack ), a girl about the age of Scrooge's great-nephew, were introduced. In later episodes the clumsy boy scout Doofy ( Doofus ), the clumsy accountant Fenton Crackshell (in a second identity also as the superhero "Krach- Boom Duck", Gizmoduck ) and the Stone Age man "Bubba" appeared. The latter two figures were partially criticized by fans, it was argued that they did not fit into the world of Duckburg. However, they only appear in the second season. Donald Duck only appears in a few episodes mainly as a secondary character, the rest of the time he serves as a deck-scrubbing sailor on Admiral Griemitz's aircraft carrier .

In the episode In the Gold Rush , Scrooge's only great love, Nelly, appears here as Glitter Goldie. It was also used by Don Rosa in Uncle Scrooge - His Life, His Billions .

Production and publication

The first season (1987–1988) of the DuckTales consisted of 65 episodes, the second season reached another 35 stories. With a total of 100 episodes, DuckTales was the longest Disney series until it was replaced by Phineas and Ferb . The first five episodes will also be broadcast together as the pilot film DuckTales on a Treasure Hunt ( The Treasures of the Golden Suns ).

The Japanese animation studio TMS-Entertainment was responsible for the animation of the series, which also animated other Disney cartoons.

Both seasons of the series ran in the United States from 1987 to 1990; the synchronization of the first season took place from 1989 for the ARD . DuckTales was shown first in the evening program and later in the Disney Club , Käpt'n Blaubär Club and Tigerenten Club .

There were two different intros in the German version of the series. While an English-language opening credits were used for the first broadcast in the first, this was replaced by a German-language version when the series was presented at the Disney Club . This is not a direct translation of the original, but an independent interpretation, so that characters like Pluto and Goofy are mentioned in the song, but never appear in the series.

iTunes

On January 30, 2012, all of the DuckTales episodes were released in 8 volumes on iTunes. Except for small shifts due to the division into volumes, the German first broadcast from 1989 was retained. However, the file information shows the dates of the US broadcast. However, only 98 of the 100 episodes were released. The episodes 59: The horror of the universe and 62: The ordeal for a hero are missing. The reason for this is not known.

Adaptations

In 1990 there was another movie with DuckTales: The Movie - Raiders of the Lost Lamp .

DuckTales also received two comic book series in the US. The first ran with thirteen issues at Gladstone from 1988 to 1990, the second at Disney Comics with 18 issues from 1990 to 1991. A children's magazine was also published after the series, which contained comics, including an issue for which the illustrator Don Rosa wrote the story.

In 2018 and 2019, the Funny Pocket Book brought out a special series called Funny Pocket Book DuckTales about the "DuckTales".

The series was also implemented in video and computer games: The game DuckTales first appeared in 1989 for the Nintendo Entertainment System and the Nintendo Game Boy . Another game with similar game mechanics was released for the PC , Amiga and C64 with the title DuckTales - The Quest for Gold . For the Nintendo systems, a sequel followed under the name DuckTales 2 , which is based on the process and topic of the first part. In March 2013, publisher announced Capcom a remaster of the original released for the NES Duck Tales debut, under the name of DuckTales Remastered , for the download platforms on PlayStation 3 , Xbox 360 and Wii U at. The game was released on August 15, 2013 and Capcom announced that if DuckTales: Remastered was successful, it would release further remakes of older games.

In February 2015 it was announced that a reboot of the series would be produced. This has been broadcast worldwide on Disney XD since 2017 .

synchronization

While Tick, Trick and Track were each given individual speakers for the first German broadcast of the first season, the three roles for the repeats from 1991 at the Disney Club were re- dubbed with the speaker from the Ducktales film . However, the original speakers were retained as the voices of the aged nephews in episode 52 ( Business Spirit ). In the course of the repetition, the title song was also re-recorded and the text was first Germanized.

Although the second season was broadcast in the USA from 1988, the German first broadcast of the second season did not take place until 1995 on Das Erste , which meant that other speakers were sometimes used - five episodes were not broadcast on Super RTL until the evaluation in 1998 . In the first season, Dagobert Duck was spoken by Hermann Ebeling , in the second by Joscha Fischer-Antze , who was heard as Dagobert in the 1991 Ducktales film.

German role names and speakers that were already established in the first season in 1989 were not included in the German dubbing of the film DuckTales: The Film - Hunter of the Lost Lamp .

In other films or programs Donald Duck is spoken in German by Peter Krause, but here by Thomas Keck , who also acted as the dubbing director of the series. The synchronization was done in Berlin by Interopa Film in Berlin, with dialogue books written by Eberhard Storeck .
