June Foray (2014)

June Foray (* 18 September 1917 in Springfield , Massachusetts as June Lucille Forer ; † 26. July 2017 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American voice actress .

Career

Foray first appeared on the radio at the age of 12. At 15 she wrote the radio play Lady Makebelieve , in which she herself spoke several voices. Foray was regularly heard on the radio until the 1950s. From the 40s Foray worked in films and later on television. She was only seen in front of the camera a few times, mainly as a speaker. In 1950 Foray voiced the cat Lucifer in the Disney film Cinderella . In the decades that followed, Foray appeared in more than 200 speaking roles in film and television. The series in which she participated include, among others, the Flintstones Family , The Jetsons , Tom and Jerry , The Pink Panther , DuckTales - News from Duckburg , The Simpsons and Family Guy .

Foray died in July 2017 at the age of 99; she was active as a speaker until her death.

Awards

In 1982 Foray received the Winsor McCay Award . In 1995 the June Foray Award was introduced in her honor ; Foray herself was the first winner. She won two Annie Awards for her role as Granny in The Sylvester & Tweety Mysteries . In 2000 Foray received a star on the Walk of Fame .

Private

From 1954 until his death in 1976 Foray was married to Hobart Donavan in their second marriage .
