Garfield and Friends (Original title: Garfield and Friends ) is an American cartoon series that was produced from 1988 to 1994. It is based on the comic book Garfield by Jim Davis .

content

Each episode consists of two Garfield stories and an episode of Orson's Farm (originally US Acres ), another comic series by Jim Davis. In addition, so-called quickies are played, the number of which varies: While there were initially three short stories per episode (two about Garfield and one about Orson's Farm ), there is only one quickie per episode from the third season. In addition, Binky the clown, who only plays a minor role in the comic, has his own quickie called Laächter mit Binky ( Screaming with Binky ) in the series .

characters

Figures in Garfield

Most of the characters in Garfield were previously known from the comic (more information here ). One of the exceptions is Garfield's friend Penelope, who takes Arlene's place on the series.

Figures in Orson's Farm

  • Orson is a kind and smart pig. Orson enjoys reading books and is the boss of the farm because of his cleverness.
  • Roy is an extremely self-centered rooster who loves to trick the other farm people with his pranks.
  • Wade is a duck. Wade is scared of just about anything and always wears a swim ring. The head of the swim ring always moves like Wade's head does.
  • Bo is usually a happy sheep with a positive attitude.
  • Lanolin is Bo's sister. Most of the time, she is in a bad mood and arguing with her brother. Lanolin appears to be secretly in love with Orson.
  • Booker is a little chick. It is always on the hunt for a specific, nameless worm. Booker got its name because of Orson's fondness for books.
  • Sheldon is Booker's brother. In contrast to Booker, however, he has not yet managed to fully hatch; only his legs can be seen. Sheldon seems to have all kinds of things in his shell.
  • Mort, Gort and Wart are Orson's big brothers who keep trying to steal vegetables from the farm. Their role in the series is much bigger than in the comic strips, in which they only appear nameless in the earlier strips and then never appear again.
  • The weasel tries again and again to steal the farm's chickens. However, it is always prevented by Roy, Orson and once also Wade. The weasel is a character made up especially for the television series and does not appear on the newspaper trips.
  • The fox is another antagonist, but one who is a lot smarter than the weasel and more intelligent than Orson's brothers. He likes to try Sheldon into an omelette. However, his attempts fail again and again. Like the weasel, the fox only appears in the television series.
