Garfield sneaks through town

Garfield in animal asylum (org. Here Comes Garfield ) is an originally for the American broadcaster CBS -produced animated film from the year 1982 , of the comics by Jim Davis is based. The later book on the film was published under the title Garfield Steps into the Spotlight .

action

When Garfield and Odie annoy their neighbors while they are playing in the garden, he calls the animal catcher, who comes immediately. Garfield manages to escape into the bushes, but Odie stands still and is taken away. At first the cat pretends to be happy about it, but then he realizes that it is boring without the dog. So he sneaks into the animal sanctuary to free Odie, but is caught himself in the process. From "Fast Eddy", another imprisoned cat, Garfield learns that Odie should be "disposed of" at dawn due to a lack of interest on the part of buyers. Garfield remembers when he and Odie were kids and sheds a tear when his friend is taken away. When a little girl suddenly tries to choose an animal shortly afterwards, Garfield and his new friends use this to save Odie and flee. Back home, Garfield and Odie are happy to be reunited, which puzzles John.

Nominations

The short film was nominated for an Emmy in 1983 , but failed against Ziggy's Gift .

Deviations from the comic template

In the film, Garfield and Odie have been friends since kitten and puppy days. In the original comic, however, they only met when they were older.
