action
When John is about to drive to the vet with Garfield, the fat cat accidentally falls out of the car. Through a carelessness he forgets it with the leader of a gang of feral street cats who call themselves “the claws”. While escaping, Garfield ends up in an empty, decrepit building that looks strangely familiar. A cat appears that Garfield immediately recognizes as his mother. She also explains to him that this was the pizzeria where he saw the light of day. She immediately introduces him to his relatives who also live in the house. His grandfather thinks he is too effeminate to survive here. The claws appear from outside and demand Garfield's extradition. But his relatives cannot allow that and so a fight breaks out. The claws are put to flight and Garfield, who lay huddled on the ground trembling the whole fight, realizes that as a house cat he doesn't belong here and goes away. When it starts to rain and he collapses tiredly, John finds him, who has been looking for him in the car with his dog Odie, and brings him home. When Garfield wakes up the next morning, he thinks he has dreamed everything. Then he sees a shadow on the window in the mirror. When he then sees his mother disappear behind the hedge, he happily realizes that it was true.
