Phil Roman

Philip Phil Roman (born December 21, 1930 in Fresno , California , United States ) is an American animator of Mexican descent. He is the founder of the animation studios Film Roman and Phil Roman Entertainment .

life and work

Early in his career, Roman was an animator for Chuck Jones ' independent studios, Sib Tower 12 Productions, and later Chuck Jones Productions . He was a leading draftsman for the television production How the Grinch Stole Christmas, 1966, and also featured as an audio commentator with June Foray on the film's DVD release.

The animation studio Film Roman , which he founded , is best known for the productions The Simpsons and King of the Hill for 20th Century Fox and MTV as well as the animated television specials of Garfield and The Peanuts .

Roman directed the animated film Tom & Jerry - The 1992 Film . He also directed several The Peanuts specials, and directed or co-directed twelve of the thirteen prime-time Garfield TV specials between 1982 and 1991 Roman was the producer of Garfield Gets a Life from 1991.

Phil Roman sold Film Roman in 1999 and created a new studio called Phil Roman Entertainment . The company produced the animation special Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer from 2000.
