Ron Jones (composer)

Ron Jones (born July 7, 1954 in Kansas City , Kansas ) is an American composer .

Life

Even during his school days, Ron Jones was so enthusiastic that he took music courses at the Clackamas Community College at the same time. He studied at Seattle Pacific University from 1976 to 1978 and received his bachelor's degree in music theory and composition. He then moved to Los Angeles and studied at the Dick Grove School . To finance his studies, he worked as an assistant at Hanna-Barbera . He was able to convince the then chief composer Hoyt Curtin that Jones was already composing for a studio before he graduated. After graduating in 1979, he continued to work for Curtin and from the mid-1980s he was able to establish himself as a composer for series such as DuckTales - Neues aus Duckburg , Superman and Spaceship Enterprise: The Next Century . His engagement for Star Trek was terminated after an argument with Rick Berman . His music was felt to be "too lively", which is why he was replaced by Jay Chattaway . Jones returned to the Star Trek franchise as part of his composition work for the Starfleet Academy and Starfleet Command computer games .

Seth MacFarlane was a fan of Jones , which is why he hired him to compose several episodes of his two animated series Family Guy and American Dad .

For his work in the cartoon series Cosmo and Wanda - When Elves Help , Jones received the BMI Cable Award at the BMI Film & TV Awards from 2002 to 2004 . He received three Emmy nominations for his work on Family Guy .
