Wladimir Grigorjewitsch Fedotow ( Russian Владимир Григорьевич Федотов , scientific transliteration Vladimir Grigor'evič Fedotov ; born January 18, 1943 in Moscow ; † March 29, 2009 ibid) was a Russian football player and coach. His father Grigory Fedotov was also a soccer player.

Player career

Fedotow played for CSKA Moscow for 15 years , is the all-time record holder in the top division of the Soviet Union with 382 appearances and scored 92 goals. In 1964 he was the top scorer in the league with 16 goals. In 1970 he became Soviet champions with CSKA.

In addition, he completed 22 games for the national soccer team of the USSR in which he scored four goals.

Coaching career

Vladimir Fedotov trained several first division teams from Russia. In 1981 he won the Soviet Cup with FK Rostov . In 2002 he joined Spartak Moscow as an assistant coach . After he had temporarily jumped in as head coach twice, he was allowed to keep the job in spring 2006 after the team had occupied second place in the national league. In the subsequent UEFA Champions League , however, the team was eliminated after the preliminary round. In the 2006/07 season Fedotow was dismissed after several unsuccessful games.
