Awtandil Nikolayevich Gogoberidse ( Georgian ავთანდილ ღოღობერიძე ; Russian Автандил Николаевич Гогоберидзе called ბასა , Basa * 3. August 1922 in Sukhumi ; † 20th November 1980 in Tbilisi ) one was Georgian - Soviet football player and coach .

life and career

Avtandil Gogoberidze was born in Sukhumi , Abkhazia , in 1922 , where he also began playing football professionally. After some time at the small, local club Pishchevik Sukhumi, he moved to Dinamo Sukhumi in 1940 . Dinamo Sukhumi was not only the largest club in his hometown, but also played in the third Soviet football league. Gogoberidze then had to pause his football career temporarily due to the Second World War .

After the war he was signed by the Soviet first division club Dinamo Tiflis . For the Tbilisi, the striker was in a total of 341 games on the pitch until 1961, in which he scored 127 goals. In 1951 he was the top scorer in the Soviet league , in 1953 he shared this award with Nikita Simonjan . In 1957 Gogoberidze received the Order of the Red Banner of Labor .

Between 1952 and 1954 he also ran three times for the Soviet national team . In 1961 Gogoberidze ended his playing career and switched to coaching. From 1961 to 1962 he coached Dinamo Tbilisi and from 1963 to 1965 worked in the club's management. He then trained the Tbilisi locomotive from 1966 to 1967 .

In 1967 Gogoberidze had a serious car accident in which he lost his voice and then withdrew completely from the public. He died in Tbilisi on November 20, 1980 at the age of 58 .
