The stadium Z'dežele (also Stadion v športnem parku pod Golovcem ; German 'Stadium in the sports park below Golovec' ) is a football stadium in the Slovenian city of Celje . It is the home of the NK Celje football club . From 2004 to 2008, the Slovenian national soccer team played their games in Celje on a transitional basis.
history
Construction of the plant started in 1999; It was opened with the completed main grandstand in the east with 3,600 seats on September 12, 2003. It replaced the Skalna klet stadium from 1904, which is still used today for training purposes. The youth teams of Slovenia and France (0-0) played their first game in the new stadium on September 9, 2003. Three days later, NK Celje and Ljubljana V&V (3-1) met at the stadium opening for the first official game. The name sponsor of the sports facility was the Slovenian mineral oil company Petrol in 2003 and remained so until 2017. Two more grandstands were built in 2004 and 2005; which increased the capacity to around 10,000 viewers.
The construction work ended in 2008 with the fourth spectator rank in the north, which opened on March 2, 2008. In the corner between the north and east stands is a glazed building with an area of 8,400 square meters, which houses offices, shops and restaurants. The sports facility also has turf heating , an irrigation system , a video wall and a floodlight system with 1,400 lux . Today the Z'dežele stadium is one of the largest and most modern football stadiums in the country. It offers visitors 13,059 seats (including 135 VIP seats) of which 7,000 are covered.
