Destined Solitaire is the fifth studio album by the Swedish retro-prog band Beardfish . It was released on July 27, 2009.

Style and reception

On “Destined Solitaire” the band plays retro-prog with references to the Canterbury sound of the 70s. The brief growling phase in the title track is unusual for the genre . In addition to Kaipa and The Flower Kings , Frank Zappa and Gentle Giant are also named as stylistic models .

The stylistic diversity of the album is often highlighted by critics:

“Instead of trying it with Swedish noise rock, here one poached across the compound of progressive music-making. This time the result is "Destined Solitaire", an album full of eruptive compositions and cruel experimentation. "

The album was widely received; it achieved an average of 11.5 out of 15 points on the baby blue pages , and the “Terrorverlag” webzine awarded the full number of points.
