Mammoth ( English for " mammoth " is) the sixth studio album by the Swedish retro prog -Formation Beardfish . It was released on March 25, 2011.

Style and reception

On “Mammoth” Beardfish play a hard rock- influenced retro prog and develop the style of their previous albums. Thomas Kohlruß wrote about the album:

“[E] s really reigns more classical hard rock, of course in the Swedish-progressive variant ( Trettioåriga Kriget , the early Kaipa send their regards, you could say if you are looking for possible role models).

Then comes a caesura with “Outside / Inside” in the form of a solo piano insert and then with “Akakabotu” there is even a little surprise. Suddenly a swinging, sometimes roaring saxophone and powerful, swirling keyboards dominate the sound. There is a vandergraaf-like atmosphere with a dash of jazz rock, seasoned with a little Uriah Heep , before an expansive retro-prog cracker follows at the end, which at times reminds of Echolyn . "

Formats

“Mammoth” was released in four formats: the album was released on digipak as a single CD or together with a video DVD containing a concert recording and the making-of of the album, as well as a record and download.
