Trettioåriga Kriget (Swedish for ' the Thirty Years War ') is a Swedish progressive rock group.

Band history

The group was founded in 1970 by school friends in Saltsjöbaden, south of Stockholm . In the following years they developed their own "Swedish" style of u. a. is / was influenced by King Crimson . In 1974 they got a record deal with CBS , after which some albums (1974: debut album; 1976: Krigssång ) were released, which are now among the classics of Swedish progressive rock of the 70s. In 1977 they made a tour of England, which earned them the title of "most beloved band of the year 1977" from the English music magazine Melody Maker . In 1980 they played at the Roskilde Festival .

In the 80s that followed, the band showed signs of disintegration. So Stefan Fredin and Dag Lundquist started their own projects. Stefan Fredin founded his own band Fredin Comp and Dag Lundquist played in the synth group Adolphson & Falk and founded his own Decibel recording studio in Stockholm, which is still in existence today.

In 1992 there was a first reunification on the occasion of the republication of Krigssång . On this occasion they gave a small concert. In 1996 they gave two concerts in Stockholm, after which a live album was released. In 2003 the band recorded new songs for the first time, which were released on the album Elden av år , further albums followed. On February 8, 2014 the band played on the occasion of their 40th anniversary in Stockholm .
