The Arena Lublin is a soccer stadium in the eastern Polish city of Lublin , Lublin Voivodeship . The local football clubs Motor Lublin and KS Lublinianka , both currently playing in the fourth highest division, III league , are the main sporting users of the 15,500-seat arena. It replaced the MOSiR-Bystrzyca stadium from 1961 as the home ground. Part of the cost of the municipal stadium project was taken over by the regional funding program Regionalny program operacyjny (RPO) 2007-2013 and the European Union .

history

Initially, the city of Lublin wanted to renovate one of the two municipal stadiums (the MOSiR-Bystrzyca stadium and the Lublinianki stadium). In 2010 it was decided to build a new stadium. The location is close to the other two sports facilities on the grounds of a former sugar factory on Kroiellna Street. The following year the tender began and the offer from the Spanish Estudio Lamela Arquitectos from Madrid was selected. The work was carried out by the general contractor Budimex .

The first stadium design in a rectangular shape was rejected by the city because it wanted a more rounded and smoother design. During the redesign of the plans, the city decided that larger commercial areas should be created behind the main grandstand. This once again delayed the completion of the stadium plans. While the preparatory work on the building site began in December 2012, construction of the stadium began in mid-February 2013. At the end of the year, the stadium's concrete structure was completed. The planned completion for June 2014 had to be postponed by two months to August.

The UEFA stadium category 3 venue offers 15,500 seats on its four covered grandstands. The facade was with louvered clad panels. It can be illuminated in several colors. In the main stand 17 were VIP - boxes decorated. Two of the lodges are in use by the city. The other boxes can be rented. The seating of the arena from plastic seats is available in several shades of blue held. The canopy consists of two parts. A membrane is stretched in the rear part and the front part is covered with transparent plastic for better daylight supply. Eighteen small floodlight masts (seven each on the main and opposite stands and two each on the rear stands) are installed on the roof and together offer an illuminance of 2,000 lux . A video display panel was installed under the roof in the northeast and southwest corner of the stadium. The natural turf playing field is underlaid with turf heating . Bicycle parking spaces and 1,027 parking spaces for visitors have been created around the stadium. The stadium is also equipped with conference rooms , a wellness area, fitness studio , a sports shop, two beauty salons and a sports bar .

In addition to sports, the new building will also be used for various other events. This was already evident when the venue opened. The arena was inaugurated with three events. On September 21, 2014 it was the location of the XI Lubelskiego Festiwalu Nauki (11th Lublin Science Festival) and 25,000 visitors came to this event. On September 27, 2014 there was the inauguration concert Talent Czy Factor at which casting show participants performed. The first soccer game in the Lublin Arena took place on the occasion of a U-21 four-nation tournament with Poland , Italy , Switzerland and Germany . The teams of Poland and Italy met on October 9, 2014 in front of 13,850 spectators. The Poles defeated their guests with 2-1 goals.

For the 2016/17 season , the club Górnik Łęczna from Ekstraklasa moved from the Górnika Łęczna stadium with around 7,500 seats to the modern arena for financial reasons , as higher income can be achieved there in the first division games. The supporters of the club want to boycott the games. Łęczna is around 25 to 30 kilometers from Lublin.

In June 2017, the soccer arena was one of the venues for the U-21 soccer championship . There were three group matches.
