Górnik Łęczna is from the east of Poland originating football club , in the form of a since 1 January 2007 Aktiengesellschaft is.
The traditional team colors are green and black. The club plays its home games in the Górnik-Łęczna Stadium , which has a capacity of 7,200 spectators.
history
The club was officially founded on July 20, 1979 under the name Górniczy Klub Sportowy Górnik Łęczna . In the 2002/03 season they rose to a relegation game against Zagłębie Lubin as the third best team in the Polish second division in the Ekstraklasa and immediately reached 8th place in the table in the 2003/04 season. On January 1, 2007, the men's soccer department was spun off from the club and converted into a public company. At the end of the 2006/07 season Górnik Łęczna had to relegate to the third division due to an involvement in a corruption affair. However, the club managed to get promoted again immediately, so that they played again in the second Polish league from the 2008/09 season. On February 18, 2011, the club was renamed Górniczy Klub Sportowy Bogdanka Łęczna SA and from then on it bore the name of the main sponsor Bogdanka. In July 2011, supporters of the association gathered in Łęczna, who were dissatisfied with the renaming and could no longer identify with the association. They founded a new association under the name GKS Górnik 1979 Łęczna , in order to revive the old association name. The club currently plays in Klasa B , the ninth highest Polish division. On July 23, 2013, the club announced to return to the old club name Górniczy Klub Sportowy Górnik Łęczna SA and to work closely with the club GKS Górnik 1979 Łęczna , founded by the fans .
For the 2016/17 season they temporarily moved to the modern Arena Lublin with 15,500 seats. The club's coach has been the former Polish national soccer coach Franciszek Smuda since December 15, 2016 , who moved to Widzew Łódź after the season . After 3 years of Ekstraklasa membership, the club was relegated to the second division at the end of the 2016/17 season. In 2018 , the fall into the third division followed.

Women's soccer
Since the 2003/04 season, a women's team has also been taking part in the game of the Polish Football Association , which in 2010 was promoted to the Ekstraliga Kobiet , the top division of women. So far (as of 2018) the team has been third three times and runner-up three times, and in 2017/18 they became champions for the first time. In the 2018/19 season, the team was again Polish champions.
