The Faroese U-21 national football team is a selection team from Fótbóltssamband Føroya (FSF). It represents the Faroese football sport at U-21 level in international comparisons.
All Faroese who have not yet turned 21 are eligible to play. In tournaments, the age at the first qualifying game or on January 1st of the year specified in the tournament rules is decisive. For example, players who were born on or after January 1, 1990 were allowed to play for the EM 2013 qualification that began in 2011 .
history
Just one day after the senior team's game against Israel on August 5, 1992, both U-21 national teams also played a friendly against each other. Uni Arge , Allan Mørkøre , Jacob Eli Olsen , Óli Johannesen and Todi Jónsson were used in both games. However, this was to be the only match between the Faroe Islands U-21s until 2007, and the team only played again to qualify for the U-21 European Championship in 2009 . There was a victory and a tie against Azerbaijan , so that the group was finished with four points ahead of Azerbaijan in penultimate place.
Even if the qualification for the U-21 European Championship has never been successfully overcome, a 1-0 win over Russia in the qualification for the U-21 European Championship 2011 was a comparatively great success. With a total of three wins (further victories followed against Latvia and Andorra ) and two draws from ten games, Andorra was again in penultimate place with eleven points.
In qualifying for the U-21 European Championship 2013 , the Faroe Islands finished last with three draws from eight games, including a 1-1 draw against Denmark . Last place was also taken in the qualification for the U-21 European Championship 2015 , with a 2-2 win against Romania in the first game . The only win came in the last game against Montenegro . In qualifying for the U-21 European Championship 2017 , a draw was recorded with a 1-1 draw in the away game against Azerbaijan .
