Björn Schlicke (born June 23, 1981 in Erlangen ) is a former German soccer player .

career

The defender learned his first footballing steps in the F-youth youth team of the local club ATSV Erlangen . As a C-youth he switched to local rivals FSV Erlangen-Bruck , the most successful club in Erlangen in terms of youth development. There he played in the highest possible class for this youth sector, the district league.

As a B-youth, Schlicke moved to 1. FC Nürnberg . There he was used in the team of the A youth. In the 1999/2000 season he received his first nine Bayernliga appearances in the amateur team of 1. FC Nürnberg.

In the following season 2000/01 Schlicke moved to SpVgg Greuther Fürth . After two years in which he had played primarily in the amateur team, he succeeded in the 2002/03 season, the breakthrough in the regular formation of the professional team.

The Hamburger SV in the Bundesliga secured in the subsequent season 2003/04 the services silt. After a short time he became a regular here too. Except for an injury period before the end of the first half of the season, caused by a meniscus tear in his left knee, he played as a right full- back until the end of the 2004/05 season .

At the beginning of the 2005/06 season, he moved to 1. FC Cologne , where he was, however, intended more as a central defender . However, Schlicke could not prevail at FC and was rarely used. After a year he left Cologne and moved to MSV Duisburg . There he was a regular player from the start and during the winter break he succeeded Captain Georg Koch, who had been deposed by President Walter Hellmich . In 2007 he was promoted to the 1st Bundesliga with the club and was also one of the leading players at MSV Duisburg in the top division. He gave the captain's armband to Ivica Grlić at the beginning of the season . For the 2009/10 season he was appointed captain by coach Peter Neururer , but was replaced by Tom Starke during the winter break of the season under the new coach Milan Šašić . On June 29, 2010, MSV Duisburg and Schlicke mutually terminated the contract that ran until 2011.

For the 2010/11 season he signed a two-year contract with second division competitor FSV Frankfurt . He was appointed team captain by coach Hans-Jürgen Boysen . Shortly before the end of his contract with the FSV, Schlicke extended it to summer 2014, and in November 2013 again early until summer 2015.

From the 2015/16 season he was assistant coach of the second team of SpVgg Greuther Fürth in the Regionalliga Bayern . Here he completed 17 games with the team in the first half of the season as a defender. In the summer of 2018, Schlicke became team manager of the second team of SpVgg., But switched to the regional league team 1. FC Schweinfurt 05 as sporting director in January 2019 .

Schlicke completed eight international student matches in the U- 15 national team and 14 internationals in the U-21 national team . He also played between 2003 and 2004 in the 2006 team , the DFB's perspective team .
