Markus von Ahlen (born January 1, 1971 in Bergisch Gladbach ) is a German soccer coach and former soccer player . He is currently the main coach of the B and A youth teams at Bayer 04 Leverkusen .

Career

Markus von Ahlen started playing football for Jan-Wellem Bergisch Gladbach and joined the Werkself professional team for the 1989/90 season through Bayer 04 Leverkusen's youth team . Here the midfielder played a total of 24 first division games in four seasons and moved to the then second division VfL Bochum in the 1993/94 season .

After the promotion to the first division was successful in the first season, von Ahlen played another season in Bochum and at the end of the 1994/95 season moved back to the second division , in which he joined SV Meppen . After three seasons and 70 games in Emsland, he came to the then second division Alemannia Aachen via the station KFC Uerdingen 05 in the 1998/99 season . Here von Ahlen ended his active career after the 2001/02 season . He played a total of 38 Bundesliga and 149 second division games.

In 2005 von Ahlen began his coaching career. Until 2008 he was B youth coach at Bayer 04 Leverkusen, from the beginning of the 2008/09 season he held the same position for three years at Hamburger SV . In April 2011 Arminia Bielefeld signed him as head coach for the coming season. After ten match days with five draws and five defeats, he was given leave of absence from the club. On December 1, the contract with Arminia was terminated. One day later, von Ahlen became Thomas von Heesen's assistant coach at the Austrian Bundesliga club Kapfenberger SV .

On December 20, 2012, von Ahlen was introduced as the new head coach of the second team of TSV 1860 Munich . There he succeeded Alexander Schmidt , who had previously been promoted to head coach of the first team. He received a contract in Munich until the end of June 2015. The second team was champions of the Regionalliga Bayern 2012/13 under von Ahlen . He was brought to the first team's coaching team as an assistant coach for the 2013/14 season. On August 31, 2013, he became an interim coach after head coach Schmidt was dismissed. After another coach dismissal at TSV 1860, this time Friedhelm Funkel was hit in April 2014, von Ahlen was appointed interim head coach until the end of the 2013/14 season. At the beginning of the season he was replaced by Ricardo Moniz , as his assistant coach in the 2014/15 season . After his release on September 24, 2014, von Ahlen was head coach again. He was given leave of absence in Munich on February 17, 2015.

Since summer 2016, he has been responsible for the U17 and U19 teams in the youth division at Bayer 04 Leverkusen, together with four coaching colleagues (including Patrick Weiser ).

Personal

In 2002 von Ahlen completed a two-year correspondence course in sports management . He then took a distance learning course to become a certified sports specialist , which he successfully completed in 2005 at the Düsseldorf Chamber of Commerce .

In 2006 he completed the DFB soccer teacher course as the best course.
