Gian-Luca Itter (born January 5, 1999 in Giessen ) is a German soccer player . He is under contract with SC Freiburg . In 2016 he was awarded the Fritz Walter Gold Medal by the DFB as the best young player in the U17 category.

Club career

Itter began his career in 2004 in the youth of FC Cleeberg. There he played together with his twin brother Davide-Jerome at an early age in teams of older ages. With FC Cleeberg, he won the 2010 E-Juniors regional, regional and Hessen championships ( Wolfgang Schlosser Cup ). In 2011 he moved to Eintracht Frankfurt . With the U15 of Eintracht Frankfurt he won the South German championship in the 2014/15 season and won the U15 DFB country cup with the Hessen team. In January 2015 he moved to VfL Wolfsburg. With the Lower Saxony selection, Itter was able to win the DFB state cup for U-16 juniors. Here he scored the winning goal in the final against the Westphalian selection. In the 2015/16 season he won the championship in the U-17 Bundesliga North / Northeast with the U17 of VfL Wolfsburg.

VfL Wolfsburg

In January 2017 Itter signed his first professional contract in Wolfsburg. On September 22, 2017, he made his first professional appearance in the first Bundesliga for Wolfsburg in a 2-2 draw against FC Bayern Munich on matchday 6 of the 2017/18 season.

For the 2019/20 season , SC Freiburg , who wanted to bring him to the youth scene at the age of 15, signed the defender.

National team career

Itter has been playing for the DFB national team since the U15 and made his debut for them on November 5, 2013 against South Korea. For the U16 national team , he completed seven games. At the U17 European Championships in Azerbaijan in 2016 , Itter reached the semi-finals with the DFB selection. He played all five games from the start and was only substituted in the quarter-finals against Belgium in the 63rd minute. Itter was used in a total of 15 games for the German U17 team . For the U19 national team he came on five missions. On September 7, 2018 he made his debut for the U20 national team .

Gian-Luca Itter is a son of Frank Itter, who played for TSG Usingen in the Landesliga Süd and SC Waldgirmes and VfR Lich in the Landesliga Mitte, among others. His twin brother Davide-Jerome also plays for VfL Wolfsburg and was also awarded a professional contract in January 2017. During the Wolfsburg era, Itter lived in a shared apartment with David Nieland, who is also under contract with SC Freiburg.
