At the age of eleven, Keitel moved from his hometown club SV Breisach to nearby Freiburg im Breisgau to SC Freiburg . In the course of his training, he was used for both the U17 and the A youth teams, and the midfielder was temporarily active as deputy team captain in both age groups. In the semi-finals he also scored both goals against Borussia Mönchengladbach .

From summer 2018, Keitel, who continued to play in the A-youth, was allowed to train with the second men's team and also came to his first appearance in the Regionalliga Südwest for them . A year later, the offensive player under head coach Christian Preusser was firmly integrated into the regional league team and was used more often in central defense in the second half of the season. After being in the matchday squad four times, Keitel made his Bundesliga debut on matchday 24 of the 2019/20 season in a 0-1 draw against Borussia Dortmund after a substitution . During the forced break ordered due to the global COVID-19 pandemic , the offensive player received his first professional contract in mid-April 2020, which is valid until June 2021.
