Nicolas "Chicco" Höfler (born March 9, 1990 in Überlingen ) is a German football player in the service of SC Freiburg .

Career

Höfler started playing football at Herdwanger SV. He finally came to SC Freiburg via the youth department of SC Pfullendorf , where he played from 2001 to 2005 . Höfler won the A Junior Championship in 2008 and the DFB Junior Club Cup in 2009 with the SCF U-19 team . He made his debut for the second team of SC Freiburg in the Regionalliga Süd on December 20, 2008 at the home game against Viktoria Aschaffenburg .

At the beginning of the 2010/11 season, head coach Robin Dutt promoted Höfler to the professional squad of SC Freiburg. Höfler still had to wait for his first appearance in the Bundesliga. In 2011 he switched to FC Erzgebirge Aue on loan . Here Höfler came on as a substitute for Guido Kocer in the 66th minute of the game against Eintracht Braunschweig on the fifth match day and thus got his first appearance in a professional team. After another year in Aue, Höfler returned to SC Freiburg for the 2013/14 season. On August 27, 2013, the 4th matchday brought forward, Höfler also scored his first Bundesliga goal in his second season and Bundesliga game with the goal to make it 1-1 in the 86th minute in the home game against FC Bayern Munich.

At the beginning of 2020, SC Freiburg extended the contract with Höfler, who is currently the longest serving member of the team. He plays in midfield with shirt number 27 and has played 136 Bundesliga games and 15 DFB Cup games by 2020.
