Odisseas Vlachodimos ( Greek Οδυσσέας Βλαχοδήμος , born April 26, 1994 in Stuttgart ) is a Greek - German football player . He plays in the position of goalkeeper and is the brother of Panagiotis Vlachodimos .

Career

Odisseas Vlachodimos moved from VfL Stuttgart-Wangen (now SportKultur Stuttgart) to VfB Stuttgart in 2002 .

Still as a U-19 player, Odisseas Vlachodimos made his professional debut on February 25, 2012 on the 26th matchday of the 2011/12 season for VfB Stuttgart II in the 3rd professional league against 1. FC Heidenheim .

On June 22, 2012, he signed a licensed player contract that was dated until the end of June 2015. In April 2014 Odisseas Vlachodimos extended his contract with VfB until June 2017. For the 2014/15 season he officially became a member of the Bundesliga squad in Stuttgart.

Vlachodimos made his Bundesliga debut with VfB Stuttgart on August 29, 2015 on the 3rd match day of the 2015/16 season against Eintracht Frankfurt when he was substituted on for Daniel Didavi after being sent off against Przemysław Tytoń . Due to a subsequent suspension and an injury-related loss of Tytoń, he came to two more Bundesliga appearances for VfB.

On January 26, 2016, Odisseas Vlachodimos moved to Panathinaikos Athens and on July 1, 2018 to Benfica Lisbon .

National team

Odisseas Vlachodimos made his debut on May 21, 2009 for the German U-15 national team in an international match against the USA and was used the following month against Poland in another U-15 international match for Germany. Odisseas Vlachodimos made his debut for Germany's U-16 national team on August 14, 2009 against Switzerland. Vlachodimos came to other U-16 international matches for Germany in October 2009 at a tournament in Liechtenstein and in February 2010 at a tournament in Cyprus. With the German U-17 national team , Odisseas Vlachodimos was the runner -up European goalkeeper at the U-17 European Championship in 2011 . The subsequent U-17 World Cup 2011 concluded Odisseas Vlachodimos as number 1 of the German U-17 national team with third place. At the end of the year he was awarded the Fritz Walter Medal in bronze. For an international match against the Netherlands on February 29, 2012, Vlachodimos was appointed to the U-18 national team of Germany for the first time . In this game he made his debut for the German U-18 team. Odisseas Vlachodimos faced Scotland for the first time on August 14, 2012 in the goal of the German U-19 national team . On October 12, 2013, he made his debut for the U-20 national team of Germany against the Netherlands .

On March 28, 2017, Vlachodimos made his debut for the U-21 national team in the game against Portugal's U-21s , which were lost 1-0 . Without being used at the tournament, he won the European Championship with the German U-21s in 2017.

At the end of October 2018, he decided to play for the Greek national team in the future . On November 15, 2018, Vlachodimos made his debut for them when he was set up in the 1-0 home game against Finland .
