Tomás Franco Tavares (born March 7, 2001 in Lisbon ) is a Portuguese football player . The right full-back is under contract with Benfica Lisbon and is a U21 international .
Career
societies
Tavares started his football career in 2010 with Benfica Lisbon . There he went through all youth teams and moved up to the professional squad for the 2019/20 season . Tavares made his professional debut on September 17, 2019 in a 2-1 home defeat in the Champions League game against RB Leipzig .
National team
Tavares has been part of the youth national teams of the Portuguese Football Association since the U17 . He played with the U17s at the U17 European Championship in England in 2018 , but did not get beyond the group stage with his team. He played for the U19 national team at the U19 European Championship in Armenia in 2019 and reached the final with his team, which was lost 2-0 to Spain .
