Mile Svilar ( Serbian - Cyrillic Миле Свилар ; born August 27, 1999 in Antwerp , Flanders ) is a Belgian - Serbian football goalkeeper . He plays for the Portuguese first division club Benfica Lisbon .

Career

society

Mile Svilar started his career with the Antwerp clubs KFCO Wilrijk and Germinal Beerschot before moving to RSC Anderlecht in 2010 . He stayed there until the middle of 2017. He then moved to Portugal to Benfica Lisbon . He made his professional football debut for the club on October 18, 2017 in the Champions League match against Manchester United . In this he had to accept a goal by Marcus Rashford and a 0-1 defeat. At the age of 18 years and 52 days, Svilar became the youngest goalkeeper ever to be used in this competition. In the second leg on October 31, Svilar set two more records: He was the youngest goalkeeper in this competition at the time and he also caused an own goal in the same game when Nemanja Matić hit a goal when the ball over the post on Svilar's back bounced and jumped back into the gate.

National team

Svilar has played for the Belgian association since the U15 . At the U17 European Championship in 2016 he played in all four games over the entire season and only had to concede two goals, but he and his team were eliminated in the round of 16 against the German selection .

Personal

Svilar is the son of the former Yugoslav national goalkeeper Ratko Svilar , who was born in Crvenka . a. played for Royal Antwerp from 1980 to 1996 . During his last year as a professional and afterwards, he alternated between head and assistant coaching positions in the club. Mile came in 1999 to the world when his father in chapels to Putte SK trained.
