Andreas Samaris ( Greek Ανδρέας Σάμαρης ; born June 13, 1989 in Patras ) is a Greek football player who is currently under contract with Benfica Lisbon . He plays in midfield .

Career

Samaris began his career in 2006 in the third Greek division, the Gamma Ethniki at Panachaiki . In January 2010 Samaris signed a four and a half year contract with the Greek first division club Panionios Athens . In August 2012, Olympiacos Piraeus secured the services of the young midfield player for 350,000 euros. He was loaned to Panionios Athens in the 2012/13 season. On August 22, 2014, he signed a contract with the Portuguese record champions Benfica Lisbon.

National team

On October 26, 2007 Samaris made his debut in the qualifying game for the U-19 European Football Championship in 2008 against France as a national player. He was appointed to the senior national team for the first time in 2013. The following year he took part in the World Cup in Brazil .
