Gabriel Appelt Pires (born September 18, 1993 in Resende ) is a Brazilian - Portuguese football player . He has been playing for Benfica Lisbon since 2018 .

Career

Gabriel was trained at CR Vasco da Gama and Resende FC . His professional career began with Resende FC. On January 19, 2011 his first game as a professional. In the state championship in Rio de Janeiro , his club competed against CR Vasco da Gama. Gabriel was in the starting line-up in the game. Gabriel also scored his first goal as a professional in the competition. On March 27, in the game against Macaé Esporte FC , he scored the goal to equalize 2-2 in the 56th minute in the home game (final score -5-2).

In 2011 he moved to Italy for Juventus Turin . In 2012 he was awarded to the second division club FC Pro Vercelli . He made his debut on the 3rd matchday in 2012/13 against AS Livorno . He was then loaned to the second division team Spezia Calcio , in 2013, 2014 to Delfino Pescara in 1936 and in January 2015 to AS Livorno. In the summer of 2015 it was awarded to the second division CD Leganés in Spain . He made his league debut on matchday 3 in 2015/16 against Real Saragossa . A year later, Gabriel was permanently taken over by Leganés. At the end of August 2018 he moved to Portugal to Benfica Lisbon . The transfer fee was eight million euros.
