The Laaser Höhe is a side ridge in the Stolzalpe massif ( 1817 m above sea level ) of the Niedere Tauern in the Upper Mur Valley , Styria .
Location and landscape
The Laaser Höhe is located southeast of the Stolzalpe, which rises from Murau ( Murau district ) between Mur valley and Katschtal . It is part of the Schladminger Tauern - an east-west section of the Niedere Tauern - or the Murberg Mountains - the mountain range upstream of the Mur valley.
The Laaser Höhe lies above Triebendorf , Katsch an der Mur and Althofen . It forms the southeast ridge of the Stolzalpe, between Mur in the south and Laasenbach in the north. It is an approximately 2½ kilometer long, largely flat ridge that extends from the Hasenstein hill (approx. 1550 m ) eastwards to the main summit ( 1442 m above sea level ). Towards the Murtal, it drops quite abruptly over 700 meters. The Murberg houses of Murau-Triebendorf are located here. The north flank is just as steep, but the upper Laaserbach is only 300 meters below. The Laasen houses , after which the ridge is named, are located on the opposite slope. The ridge line forms the municipality boundary between Murau in the south and St. Peter am Kammersberg . To the east it descends over the Katscher houses Göglburg and Priel to the lower Katschtal. Lanken lies there in the Murtal .
