Career

Veljković began playing football as a youth at FC Basel and has already represented Switzerland with the U16 national team . In spring 2011, the Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur became aware of Veljković. After a week's trial training, he switched permanently to the Spurs in the summer . Since Veljković has both Swiss and Serbian citizenship , he was able to change the youth national team and started playing for the Serbian youth teams from 2012.

2013 he won the Under-19 national team of Serbia , the European U19 Championship in Lithuania . In December of the same year he sat on the bench for the first time in a Premier League game. This was made possible, among other things, by the fact that Tim Sherwood , who had previously trained the U21 and knew Veljković well, replaced André Villas-Boas as head coach a short time before . On April 8, 2014, Veljković made his Premier League debut in a 5-1 win over Sunderland AFC when he came on for Paulinho in the 88th minute . Despite this use, Veljković was still not part of the first team and played for the Spurs U21s . Veljković won the U20 World Cup in New Zealand in 2015 with Serbia 's U20 national team after a high-class final against Brazil .

After Veljković previously twice in the second-class Football League Championship was awarded, he joined in February 2016, following Germany to SV Werder Bremen , where he was awarded a contract with a term until June of 2019. There he made his debut on March 2, 2016 in a 4-1 away win against Bayer 04 Leverkusen , when he came on for Fin Bartels in the 61st minute of the game . He scored his first competitive goal for Bremen on August 12, 2017 in a 3-0 win against the Würzburger Kickers in the first main round of the 2017/18 DFB Cup .

On November 10, 2017, Veljković made his debut in a 2-0 win in a friendly against China in the Serbian national team . In June 2018 he was appointed to the Serbian squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia by national coach Mladen Krstajić . In the tournament Veljković came to a use and retired with his team as third in the table after the group stage .
