Alfonso Pedraza Sag (born April 9, 1996 in San Sebastián de los Ballesteros , Córdoba ) is a Spanish football player who plays on the position of the winger .

He comes from the youth of the Valencian club Villarreal and played for the club's B and C teams at the beginning of his career. For the 2016/17 season he switched to second division CD Lugo in a six-month loan deal and ended the season in England with Leeds United . He spent the next season 2017/18 as a loan player at Deportivo Alavés, where he established himself as a regular in the top Spanish league . After his return, he also played a role in the starting line-up of Villarreal's first team in the 2018/19 season . He spent the 2019/20 season on loan at Betis Sevilla .

In 2011, Alfonso Pedraza moved to the youth academy of FC Villarreal at the age of 15 . In January 2015 he was promoted to the C-Team. For the fourth division , however, he only came to one use and rose directly to the B-team after this. He made his professional football debut on January 11, 2015 for the reserve team in the third-class Segunda División B in a 2-2 draw against CF Reus Deportiu . He scored his first goal on March 1 in a 1-0 win over Atlético Baleares . On April 5, he made his debut in the first team coach Marcelino García when he at 0: 0 draw against FC Valencia in 72 minutes for Jonathan dos Santos came on.

On July 28, 2016, he moved to second division CD Lugo in a loan shop for the entire season . He scored his first goal for the Galicians on August 21 in a 2-2 draw with Gimnàstic de Tarragona . By the end of January, he had eight hits and eight assists on the account.

On January 31, 2017, his parent club Villarreal bought Pedraza for an amount of 350,000 euros from his loan deal with CD Lugo, only to loan him to the English second division Leeds United for the remainder of the 2016/17 season . The Whites also secured an optional purchase option of around 10 million euros in the event of the team's promotion. He made his debut on February 5 in a 2-1 away defeat at Huddersfield Town . He scored his first goal for Leeds on March 3 in a 3-1 away win over Birmingham City . After his team finished the season in 7th place in the table and missed the promotion playoffs by one place, Pedraza returned to Spain to his home club.

On July 5, 2017, he was loaned to Deportivo Alavés for the entire 2017/18 season. He made his competitive debut for Alavés on August 18 in the 0-1 away defeat against CD Leganés . He scored his first goal in the top Spanish league on January 21, 2018 in a 2-2 draw against Leganés. He ended the season with three goals and six assists in 33 league appearances.

After returning to Villarreal for the 2018/19 season , he ultimately became a regular there too. On November 4, 2018, he scored his first competitive goal for the first team of Submarino Amarillo when he was able to equalize in the 93rd minute of the 1-1 draw against UD Levante . In a disappointing season for the club, which ended in 14th place in the table, Pedraza was used in 34 league games, in which he was able to contribute three goals and four assists.

On July 16, it was announced that Alfonso Pedraza is moving to league rivals Betis Sevilla in a loan deal . The Béticos also secured a purchase option. The winger had previously also been linked to a transfer to Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt . Due to several injury problems, he missed several months over the course of the 2019/20 season . He scored his first goal on July 8, 2020 (35th matchday) in a 3-0 home win against CA Osasuna . This season he completed 21 league games in which he was able to record this one goal.

National team

Alfonso Pedraza was nominated for the first time for a Spanish junior selection in May 2015. Then he made it into the squad of the U-19 national team for the qualifying games for the U-19 European Championship in 2015 . He made his debut on May 29 in a 4-1 away win against Georgia . He was also able to contribute a goal in this game. After he was able to score once in each of the following two qualifying games, he was nominated for the finals in Greece . With Spain he was able to win the European title there. He himself took part in four out of five games.

He made his debut for the U-21 national team on March 24, 2016 when he came on as a substitute for Dani Ceballos in the 3-0 home defeat to Croatia in the qualifier for the U-21 European Football Championship 2017 in the second half .

At the U-21 European Championship 2019 in Italy and San Marino , which he won with his home country, he made a brief appearance in the group stage in a 2-1 win against Belgium .
