Hervé Nzelo-Lembi (born August 25, 1975 in Kinshasa ) is a former Congolese football player with a Belgian passport. In the Bundesliga , Lembi was active for 1. FC Kaiserslautern from 2002 to 2006 .
society
Lembi was one of the great hopes of 1. FC Kaiserslautern before the 2002/03 season when he was signed by the Belgian top club FC Bruges . The Congolese initially had a difficult time with the FCK and could not meet expectations. In addition to the form fluctuations, there were numerous minor injuries that made his debut in the Bundesliga difficult. After his return towards the end of the 2003/04 season, however, Lembi was a permanent member of the defense line.
Lembi was popular with fans of the FCK because of his acrobatic style of play (he incorporated many artful elements such as overhead kicks, heel tricks or flying headers into his game) and his fighting spirit, which is why he was also called Herbert "Air" Lembi . Since Lembi and the FCK could not agree on the terms of the contract, Lembi left the FCK in the direction of Metalurh Donetsk . Lembi played a total of 90 games for Kaiserslautern and scored 3 goals. In July 2009 his contract with Germinal Beerschot Antwerp expired and he ended his active career.
National team
For his home country, the Democratic Republic of the Congo , he played four full internationals and scored one goal.
Others
In 2000 Nzelo-Lembi was awarded the Ebbenhouten Schoen , the award for the best player of African origin in the Jupiler League .
