Diving header

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The diving header (also pike header ) is a spectacular type of header in football .

The player lets himself fall forward in order to play a ball with his head below chest height. The diving header is often used when the player urgently needs to play the ball in a controlled manner while moving forward, e.g. B. directly in front of the opponent's goal or for a quick defense in your own penalty area.

The diving header can be dangerous for the person carrying it out, as the ball is at a height where opposing players are allowed to kick it. For this reason, a collision between the player and the opponent's foot is generally not considered illegal "dangerous play".
