Mbaye Leye (born December 1, 1982 in Birkelane ) is a Senegalese football coach . He was a player in the position of the striker .

societies

Since 2007 he played in the Belgian First Division for various clubs, first for SV Zulte Waregem , then KAA Gent and Standard Liège . In January 2012 he returned to SV Zulte Waregem from Liege. After stints at KSC Lokeren and again at SV Zulte Waregem, he played at KAS Eupen in the 2017/18 season . In August 2018, he was signed by Royal Excel Mouscron . His active playing career ended there at the end of the 2018/19 season.

National team

In 2008 he also completed three missions for the Senegalese national team .

Trainer

On June 10, 2019, Standard Liège announced the signing of Leye as assistant coach from the 2019/20 season . Together with Éric Deflandre , he will support the work of Michel Preud'homme there. After Preud'homme resigned from the position of coach at Standard at the beginning of June 2020 and the new coach Philippe Montanier himself brought Mickaël Debeve with him as an assistant coach, the club agreed with Leye on an amicable separation in mid-June 2020.
