Adrien Sébastien Perruchet Silva (born March 15, 1989 in Angoulême ) is a Portuguese football player who is currently under contract with Leicester City . He is also a French citizen .

Career

In the club

Silva was born in Angoulême to a Portuguese and a French woman. He first played in the youth team of Girondins Bordeaux before his father returned to Portugal with the family and settled in Arcos de Valdevez . In 2002, Silva was accepted into the Sporting Lisbon Youth Academy . In March 2007 he signed his first professional contract with Sporting. For the 2007/08 season he was added to the professional squad by coach Paulo Bento . He then made his professional debut on August 17, 2007. After he was only used irregularly in his first three professional years, Silva played on loan for Maccabi Haifa in the first half of the 2010/11 season , before moving to Académica de Coimbra at the beginning of the second half of the season as part of another loan deal . There, Silva established himself as a regular player in the 2011/12 season and won the Taça de Portugal , the club's first title in 73 years. For the 2012/13 season , Silva returned to Sporting Lisbon. With Sporting he won the national cup again in 2015.

On August 31, 2017, Leicester City agreed with Sporting shortly before the transfer deadline to sign Silva and a transfer fee of £ 22 million . However, since the documents relating to the transfer were not received by FIFA until 14 seconds after the deadline, he was not eligible to play until the next transfer window. Officially registered on January 1, 2018, he made his debut on the same day as a substitute in the Premier League as part of a 3-0 win over Huddersfield Town .

In the national team

Silva decided to play for the Portuguese selection teams. On November 18, 2014, he made his debut under national coach Fernando Santos in a friendly against Argentina (1-0) in the senior national team . He then took part in the 2016 European Championship , where he was used in all games in the knockout round, including the 1-0 final win after extra time against hosts France , as a result of which Portugal won the first title in the association's history .
