Danilo Luís Hélio Pereira (born September 9, 1991 in Bissau , Guinea-Bissau ) is a Portuguese football player .
Career
In the club
Danilo Pereira was born in Guinea-Bissau and moved with his family to Portugal at the age of five , whereupon he played for three youth clubs in the Lisbon region , most recently for Benfica . Since the Portuguese club decided not to include Pereira in the professional squad, he moved to Serie A for Parma FC in the summer of 2010 without a transfer . There he played only five league games in the first half of the season, so that he was loaned to the Greek first division club Aris Thessaloniki in the second half of the season . In the 2012/13 season , another loan deal took him to the Dutch Eredivisie club Roda Kerkrade . Here Pereira prevailed as a regular player and completed 31 league games. For the 2013/14 season he moved back to Portugal to Marítimo Funchal and played 57 games in the Primeira Liga in the following two years . For the 2015/16 season he was signed by FC Porto .
There was a strange dismissal in the 2016/17 season when referee Luis Godinho ran backwards into Danilo and he then fell over. The referee then took out the yellow card. Since Danilo had already been cautioned with yellow 4 minutes earlier, he was sent off .
In the national team
Danilo Pereira has played over 40 international matches for Portugal's junior national team. He was part of the Portuguese squad that finished second at the 2011 U20 World Cup . On March 31, 2015, he made his debut under national coach Fernando Santos as part of a friendly against Cape Verde in the senior team .
At the European Championships in France in 2016 , he was included in the Portuguese squad. He played the first game against Iceland for the full length of the season. He then came on three times as a substitute in the last minutes of the game before he was in the semifinals in the 2-0 win against Wales as a replacement for a suspended team-mate for over 90 minutes. In the final, Portugal won the European title for the first time against hosts France.
