Andrés Mateus Uribe Villa (born March 21, 1991 in Medellín ) is a Colombian football player who has been under contract with the Portuguese first division club FC Porto since August 2019 . The midfielder has been a Colombian international since January 2017 .

Career

In 2010, Matheus Uribe started his professional career at the Argentine club Deportivo Español , for which he was used four times. At the beginning of 2012 he returned to his home country of Colombia for the first division club Envigado FC . He made his league debut on January 28, 2012 in the game against Cúcuta Deportivo . A month later, he scored for the first time for his new club in a 1-1 draw with Atlético Nacional . On February 2, 2014, he scored his first brace in a 4-2 away win over Deportes Tolima . He scored the first goal in the 86th minute of play when he converted a penalty kick. Five minutes later, he scored his second goal of the evening with a penalty.

In January 2015, Uribe moved to league competitor Deportes Tolima in a loan deal. In Tolima's jersey he was able to score 9 goals in 1½ years.

After the loan ended, he moved to Atlético Nacional in the summer of 2016. He made his debut on July 11, 2016 against the Jaguares de Córdoba . He scored his first goal on August 12 in a 5-0 away win in the Copa Sudamericana against Deportivo Municipal . His first season in 2016/17 for the Verdolagas was extremely successful for Uribe and his club. With Atlético he won the Apertura 2017 and the Copa Colombia nationally . Internationally they celebrated winning the Copa Libertadores 2016 and the Recopa Sudamericana 2017.

On August 1st, 2017 the transfer of Uribes to the Mexican first division club América was announced. He made his league debut on September 16, 2017 against Club Tijuana .

After two years at the top Mexican club, the midfielder moved to Europe at the beginning of August 2019, where he signed a four-year contract with the Portuguese club FC Porto . The first division team paid a transfer fee of nine million euros for its services.

National team

Uribe made his debut for the Colombian national team on January 26, 2017 in a friendly against Brazil .

He was part of the Colombian selection that represented the nation at the 2018 World Cup in Russia . In the group game against Poland he was brought into play in the 32nd minute for the injured Abel Aguilar . In the 1-0 win against Senegal he was in the starting line-up and was replaced by Jefferson Lerma in the 83rd minute . In the last 16 against England , he was brought into play in the 79th minute for Carlos Sánchez and shot a penalty against the crossbar in the 3-4 defeat on penalties.

Uribe scored his first two goals for the national team in the friendly against Peru on June 9, 2019.
