Envigado FC (in full: Envigado Fútbol Club SA , previously Corporación Deportiva Envigado Fútbol Club ) is a Colombian football club from Envigado in the Antioquia department, founded in 1989 .

The greatest successes in the club's history so far have been the second division championships in 1991 and 2007. After Envigado had already spent several seasons in the first division , the last time they were promoted again in 2007.

Due to the good performance in the 2011 season, Envigado FC qualified for an international competition for the first time and took part in the Copa Sudamericana 2012 . Envigado was able to reach the 2nd round and was defeated there by the Uruguayan representative Liverpool FC .

Envigado finished 15th in the 2016 season. Then the coach Juan Carlos Sánchez Cuartas was sacked. Ismael Rescalvo was hired as the new coach . In the back series of 2016, Envigado narrowly missed the finals in ninth place.

In the Hinserie 2017 , Envigado found himself at the bottom of the table and finished the league phase in 19th place. Ismael Rescalvo resigned after a weak start to the series. The club initially hired Rubén Darío Bedoya as interim coach . After that, the return series was more positive, which is why Envigado stuck to Bedoya. Envigado missed making it into the final round by only two points.

Also in Apertura 2018 , Envigado just missed making it into the final round in tenth place, one point behind eighth place. After Bedoya's resignation, Eduardo Lara replaced him in September 2018 . The back series was completed in 13th place. Envigado also came in 13th in the 2019 Hinserie .

Stadion

Envigado FC plays its home games at the Estadio Polideportivo Sur . The stadium was reopened in 1992 and has a capacity of around 14,000 seats.
