Jhon Andrés Córdoba Copete (born May 11, 1993 in Istmina ), Jhon Córdoba for short , is a Colombian football player . The striker is under contract with 1. FC Köln .
Career
societies
Cordoba has been playing in the local football school in Istmina since he was seven. At the age of 15 he moved to the youth team of Envigado FC , for which he was regularly used in the Categoría Primera A from the 2011 season . For the 2012/13 season he moved to Chiapas FC in the Mexican Primera División . In the 2013/14 season he played on loan at the Spanish first division club Espanyol Barcelona . Upon his return to Chiapas, Córdoba was signed by Granada CF.
For the 2015/16 season he was awarded to the German Bundesliga club 1. FSV Mainz 05 . He scored his first Bundesliga goal on February 20, 2016 in the 3-2 away defeat against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim . After scoring five goals this season in 22 appearances, the Mainz team used the agreed purchase option and committed Córdoba until 2020.
For the 2017/18 season he moved to league competitor 1. FC Köln , with whom he signed a four-year contract. He scored his first competitive goal for Cologne in a 5-0 win in the first main round of the DFB Cup 2017/18 on August 12, 2017 in the game against the Leher Turnerschaft . In the league he did not score in 18 appearances and at the end of the season rose with Cologne as bottom of the table in the 2nd Bundesliga . In the 4-1 home win of Cologne against FC St. Pauli on matchday 21 of the second division 2018/19 season , the Colombian contributed three goals, which he had never achieved in his professional career. At the end of the season there were 20 goals for him, which he made a significant contribution to promotion.
National team
Córdoba took part with the Colombian U20 selection at the U20 South American Championship 2013 in Argentina . He scored four goals in seven appearances and took first place with the team in the final round. This qualified the team for the U20 World Cup in Turkey in 2013 , for which Córdoba was reappointed to the Colombian squad. There they were eliminated in the last sixteen on penalties against South Korea .
