Jan Thielmann (born May 26, 2002 in Föhren ) is a German soccer player. The striker is under contract with 1. FC Köln and is a young German national player.

Career

society

In his youth, Thielmann first played in the then youth game community Hetzerath / Föhren / Bekond and switched to the youth team of Eintracht Trier for the 2014/15 season . For the 2017/18 season he moved to the U17 team at 1. FC Köln . He played 24 games for the team and won the championship with her in June 2019 after a 3-2 win over Borussia Dortmund .

In the 2019/20 season, the striker moved up to the U19s within the club and made his first appearance in the Bundesliga on December 14, 2019 , when he was in the starting line-up in Cologne's 2-0 win against Bayer 04 Leverkusen . He was the first player born in 2002 to play in the top German division. Because he was convincing in this game, coach Markus Gisdol brought him in from the start in the subsequent matches against Eintracht Frankfurt and Werder Bremen . In January 2020, Thielmann signed his first professional contract. The collaboration between him and 1. FC Köln was extended until June 30, 2022. "He is very, very advanced for his age, both physically and characteristically, and he has a very good understanding of the game. We trust him that he will hold his ground in the long term," said sports director Horst Heldt , explaining the contract extension with the youngster.

National team

Thielmann has played for the German U15 (two games), the U16 (three games) and the U17 (ten games, two goals).
