Kingsley Osezele Ehizibue [ æ: si: bu: æ ] (born May 25, 1995 in Munich , Germany ) is a Dutch - Nigerian soccer player who is under contract with 1. FC Cologne in Germany . He is mainly used as a right defender and is a former Dutch youth international.
Career
Beginnings in the Netherlands
Kingsley Ehizibue was born in Munich to Nigerian parents. The family moved to Zwolle in the Netherlands when Kingsley was two years old.
Ehizibue started playing football at the local amateur club CSV '28, then he was accepted into the youth performance center of the first division club PEC Zwolle and trained up to the age of 19. At the age of seventeen he was allowed to play for Jong PEC, Zwolle's second team, for the first time in the Beloften Eredivisie, which was later disbanded .
In the cup game against HHC Hardenberg in October 2014 (6: 1), the defender was on the field for the first time after being substituted on; the team made it to the final, but lost 2-0 against FC Groningen . From the 2016/17 season he was part of the first team's squad and subsequently became a regular player. The defensive player completed a total of 122 top division games for the PEC.
Move to Germany
For the 2019/20 Bundesliga season , Ehizibue signed a four-year contract with German first division promoted 1. FC Köln . On February 2, 2020, he scored his first goal for the club in a 4-0 win against SC Freiburg .
National team
The defender played once for the U21s in the Netherlands under head coach Fred Grim in March 2016 .
National coach Gernot Rohr nominated the defender at the beginning of March 2020 for the qualifying game of Nigeria's A-selection for the Africa Cup 2021 against Sierra Leone, which will take place at the end of the month . However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic , this encounter has been canceled until further notice.
