Ismail Jakobs (born August 17, 1999 in Cologne ) is a German football player . He can be used defensively and offensively on the left wing and is under contract with 1. FC Köln .

Career

Jakobs began playing football as a four-year-old in the youth of the Erftstadt district club BC Bliesheim.

As a C-youth he was accepted into the youth performance center of 1. FC Köln , in whose catchment area Erfstadt is located. With the Cologne U19 he made it to the semi-finals of the DFB Junior Cup , where the team was eliminated on penalties against Eintracht Braunschweig .

From summer 2017 Jakobs was also active for the regional league team, into which he was fully integrated from the following season. In the 0: 1 of the professionals at Red Star Belgrade , the defender was even in the matchday squad for the Europa League .

In preparation for the 2019/20 Bundesliga season , Jakobs took part in the training camp of the second division champions in Kitzbühel under the new head coach Achim Beierlorzer and, after good performance, was planned for the first team's squad with A-Junior Noah Katterbach . That is why he ended his negotiations with fellow promoted Paderborn . Due to a muscle torn in the training camp, Jakobs was out until November 2019, but was then in the starting line-up after his return in the 1: 2 against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim on matchday 11. In the 4-2 win against Eintracht Frankfurt on matchday 16, he scored his first Bundesliga goal for Cologne in stoppage time. From the 15th matchday onwards Jakobs came under Beierlorzer and later under his successor Markus Gisdol on the left wing, but now acting more offensively. After he was able to work for a regular seat, the winger's contract was extended to 2022 at the beginning of March 2020.
