Club Deportivo La Equidad Seguros , usually just called La Equidad for short , is a football club from the Colombian capital Bogotá , which currently plays in the Primera A category.

history

La Equidad was founded in 1982 and takes its name from the insurance company that runs the association. That is why the club is popularly known as Aseguradores .

La Equidad played in the third division Primera C from 1991 and in Primera B from 2003 to 2006 . There the club won both semi-series championships in 2006 and thus rose to Primera A , the first division. In the first division, the club reached the runner-up three times so far. In addition, La Equidad was the Colombian cup winner in 2008 .

The Estadio Metropolitano de Techo

Since shortly after its rise in 2007, La Equidad has been playing at the Estadio Metropolitano de Techo in the suburb of Kennedy in the south of Bogotá. South America's first airport, the Aeropuerto de Techo, was originally located on the site since 1919 . The hippodrome , which has been there since 1959 , was transformed into a football stadium in the 1970s. Since the last renovations completed in 2007, the stadium has a capacity of 10,000 spectators.
