The Categoría Primera B 2006 , officially named Copa Premier 2006 after a sponsor , was the seventeenth season of Colombia's second division in men's football , which consisted of Apertura and Finalización . Last year's champion was Cúcuta Deportivo . Relegated from the first division was Unión Magdalena .

Champion was La Equidad , which was able to rise to the first division. The runner-up Valledupar FC lost in the relegation against Atlético Huila .

mode

In Apertura and Finalización , all teams were initially drawn into two groups of nine teams each. In each group all teams played against each other twice in league mode, in addition each team played against a team from the other group. In each group, the first two teams qualified for the final round, which consisted of a group of four teams. The group winners became semi-series champions.

The two semi-series champions should qualify for the final, in which the master and direct climbers should be determined. Since La Equidad won both half series, the final was not played. Instead, the second of the two half-series played the runner-up. The runner-up played a relegation against the penultimate in the first division. There was no relegation from the second division.

Attendees

The following clubs took part in the two half-series of the 2006 season, Apertura and Finalización . Córdoba FC took over the right to start from Florida Soccer. Expreso Rojo moved from Sincelejo to Cartagena . Bello FC was renamed Atlético Bello . Dépor moved from Cartago to Jamundí . Bogotá FC played the first half series in Sibaté due to renovation work on the stadium in Soacha and then returned to Soacha.

After the Apertura, La Equidad could also win the Finalización. So no final was necessary. La Equidad was the champion of the Categoría Primera B 2006 and rose to the first division.
