↑ Categoría Primera A 2018
The Categoría Primera B 2018 , also called Torneo Águila after a sponsor , was the twenty-eighth season of Colombia's second division in men's football, which was hosted by the División Mayor del Fútbol Profesional Colombiano (DIMAYOR).
The relegated from the Categoría Primera A 2017 were Cortuluá from Tuluá and Tigres FC from Bogotá . On November 14, Cúcuta Deportivo and Unión Magdalena were confirmed as promoters. In the final, Cúcuta Deportivo prevailed and was second division champion for the third time.
mode
The mode has changed compared to the previous year. A tournament is played in which all teams play against each other in home and return matches. The first eight teams qualify for the final round. The final round consists of a group stage with two groups of four teams each, who determine the two participants in the final in the first and second legs. The master rises directly. The losing finalist plays the second promoted team in another game against the top-ranked club in the overall table. If the losing finalist is the best-placed club in the overall table, no second promotion game will be played and the runner-up will also be promoted directly.
