Location of the stadium in Santander

The Estadio Álvaro Gómez Hurtado was built in 1996 and named after the conservative politician Álvaro Gómez Hurtado, who was murdered the previous year . Initially, it had space for 4,500 spectators and served the short-lived second division Real Floridablanca as the home stadium. Real Santander has played at the Estadio Álvaro Gómez Hurtado since 2007 . However, the stadium was in poor condition, which is why Real Santander moved to the Estadio Alfonso López in Bucaramanga in 2011 . When Alianza Petrolera from Barrancabermeja rose to the first division, Daniel Villa Zapata's own stadium no longer met the requirements and had to be extensively rebuilt. With the help of the then owner of Alianza Petrolera, the stadium in Floridablanca was renovated and expanded at short notice, so that it can now accommodate 12,000 spectators. Real Santander has been playing at the Álvaro Gómez Hurtado stadium again since 2013. In the 2015 season , Alianza Petrolera returned to Barrancabermeja as the construction of their own stadium had been completed. In the 2016 and 2017 seasons Atlético Bucaramanga moved to Floridablanca for most of the games, as their own stadium was modernized. Real Santander moved to San Andrés for the 2019 season .
