Categoría Primera A 2014

The Categoría Primera A 2015 , named after a sponsor Liga Águila , is a season of the highest Colombian league in men's football consisting of Apertura and Finalización . The Apertura is the eighty-first and the Finalización the eighty-second edition of the Colombian Championship. The aperture started on January 31st and ended on June 7th, 2015. The finalización started on July 10th, 2015.

Acting Master is Independiente Santa Fe . The newcomer is Jaguares de Córdoba . Two other promoted teams were determined in a separate promotion round, in which eight traditional teams of the second division took part. Cúcuta Deportivo and Cortuluá were able to prevail. This increases the league to 20 teams.

In the Apertura Deportivo Cali won the final against Independiente Medellín and became champions for the ninth time. Atlético Nacional won the back series on penalties against Junior and became the Colombian record champions with their fifteenth title.

As the first relegated five game days before the end of the back series, the promoted Cúcuta Deportivo , who was relegated to the second division for the fourth time in the club's history. One game day later, Uniautónoma FC , the second relegated team, was confirmed, who had only secured relegation last year.

mode

Two champions are determined, one for each half series. Every semi-series champion is automatically qualified for the Copa Libertadores . A third place is awarded to the club that has the highest after adding up all the points and goals from phases 1 and 2 of the first and second semi-series championships. Should a club win both semi-series championships, the second participant in the Libertadores will be selected using the same procedure as the third participant. Two participants in the Copa Sudamericana will be determined according to the same scheme as the third Libertadores participant: the two clubs that stand behind him in the overall annual ranking are qualified. A third club is determined by the cup competition and a fourth by the Superliga de Colombia . Two direct relegated to the Categoría Primera B are determined by a separate relegation table, which is determined from the average of the past three seasons. There is no longer any relegation.

In both phases, all 20 teams play against each other in league mode, in addition there is a game day with Clásicos , on which games with a derby character are played. The first eight teams qualify for the quarter-finals, followed by the semi-finals and finals. In the draw for the quarter-finals, the teams in places one to four are in the first lottery pot and a team in places five to eight is drawn. They also have home rights in the second leg.

Promotion lap

Eight traditional teams from the second division took part in the promotion round. The promotion round took place in Bogotá, in the stadiums Metropolitano de Techo and El Campín . The teams were drawn into two groups. In each group, all teams played against each other once. Both group winners, Cúcuta Deportivo and Cortuluá , qualified directly.
