The association emerged from the university team of the Universidad Autónoma del Caribe . He played his first season in the now defunct Primera C and was runner-up. For the 2011 season , Uniautónoma bought the club Atlético de la Sabana from Sincelejo the right to start in the Categoría Primera B and has since played in the second division.
Uniautónoma was able to reach the final round in every half series between 2011 and 2013. In the Apertura 2013 the club was able to qualify for a final for the first time, prevailing there against Unión Magdalena. Thus Uniautónoma won the first round series and qualified for the championship final, in which the direct climber to the Categoría Primera A and the relegation participants were played. Uniautónoma won against Fortaleza FC and thus played in the first division for the first time in the 2014 season.
Uniautónoma played directly against relegation in the first year and managed to stay up in 2014 via relegation, which was won against Deportes Quindío . A year later, however , the club rose again in 2015 to the second division.
The Universidad Autónoma del Caribe announced after relegation that the professional club would be dissolved and the right to start will be sold because the costs for professional operation were too high and the finances for the university operation were impaired. The starting right was sold to Orsomarso SC .
Stadion
Uniautónoma played its home games in the second division at the Estadio Marcos Henríquez in Sabanalarga , as the traditional club from Barranquilla, Junior , did not issue a license to use the Estadio Romelio Martínez . The stadium has a capacity of around 8,000 seats.
For the first division, the club needed a stadium with at least 10,000 seats and adequate lighting. After initial resistance, Junior allowed the use of the Estadio Metropolitano Roberto Meléndez , which has a capacity of 49,612 spectators.
