Tuluá is a commune ( municipality ) in the department of Valle del Cauca , Colombia .
geography
Tuluá is located in the Centro sub-region in Valle del Cauca 960 m above sea level to 4400 m of the Páramo de Barragán and Santa Lucia. There is a tropical, humid savanna climate with an average annual temperature of 24 ° C to 27 ° C. The municipality is bordered by Andalucía and Bugalagrande in the north, Seville and Chaparral in the Tolima department in the east, Buga and San Pedro in the south and Yotoco and Riofrío in the west .

The municipality of Tuluá has 221,701 inhabitants, of which 191,620 live in the urban part (cabecera municipal) of the municipality (as of 2019).
history
Tuluá means "light earth" in the indigenous language and was founded in 1741 by Spanish conquistadors. The city is also called Corazón del Valle (heart of the Caucatales), or La Villa de Céspedes (city of lawns).
Tuluá was traditionally a stronghold of the conservatives, during the civil war 1948-52 the city gained notoriety for repression and particularly high numbers of victims.

Tuluá hosts an agricultural fair (Feria de Tuluá), which is considered the most important fair in Colombia.
Infrastructure
Tuluá is located on the Panamericana and connects the cities of Cali (100 km), Pereira (125 km) and Armenia (105 km). Tuluá has one airport, Aeropuerto Farfán Heriberto Gil Martínez ( IATA code : ULQ ).
