Carlos Eduardo Alzate Escobar (born March 23, 1983 in Tuluá ) is a Colombian track and road cyclist .

Athletic career

In 2002 Carlos Alzate (together with Iván Casas , Juan Pablo Forero and Andrés Rodríguez ) won gold in the team pursuit at the Central America and Caribbean Games . The following year, the Colombian quartet with Alexander González , José Serpa and Forero won the track cycling World Cup in Aguascalientes . In 2004 Alzate won a stage of the Vuelta a Colombia on the road . In 2005 he was again successful on the track when he won bronze in the team pursuit with Serpa, González and Carlos Quintero at the Pan American Championships.

In 2006 Alzate decided a stage of the Vuelta a El Salvador for himself and the single pursuit at the Central America and Caribbean Games. In 2007 he was two-time Pan American champion in the singles and in the team pursuit (with Forero, Jairo Pérez and Arles Castro ). In 2008 he started in the team pursuit at the Olympic Games in Beijing ; the Colombian four finished 16th. From 2013 he rode for the US team UnitedHealthcare Professional Cycling Team and in 2016 won a stage of the Joe Martin Stage Race .
