José Rodolfo Serpa Pérez (born April 17, 1979 in Corozal ) is a Colombian racing cyclist .

Athletic career

Serpa got his first success in 2003 at the Pan American Games in 2003 , he won the gold medal in the time trial. In 2004 he was then Pan-American champion in the team pursuit and in the Madison . At the Vuelta a Venezuela he won a stage in the summer of 2005. He got off to an excellent start in the new year. He was able to win three stages in the Vuelta al Táchira , whereupon he received a contract with Selle Italia-Diquigiovanni . In his first race for this tam, he won two stages of the Tour de Langkawi and finished sixth in the overall standings. At the end of the 2006 season, he was the overall winner of the UCI America Tour . In 2009 and 2012 he won the Tour de Langkawi , in 2001 the Giro del Friuli and in 2012 the Trofeo Laigueglia .

José Serpa competed at the Olympic Games twice - in 2004 and 2008 . In 2004 he competed in the two-man team driving with Leonardo Duque ; the duo took 16th place; In 2008 he was 40th in the road race.

In 2013 Serpa started in the Tour de France and finished 21st in the overall standings, the following year he was 48th of the Tour . At the end of 2015, he announced his retirement from active competitive cycling after he had not received a new contract with his team Lampre-Merida , for which he had ridden since 2013.
