Byron Patricio Guamá de la Cruz (born June 14, 1985 in San Isidro , Carchi ) is an Ecuadorian cyclist . Guamá competes in both rail and road competitions .

Career

In 2003 he won the Pan-American Youth Championships in the Madison discipline together with Segundo Navarrete . With the same partner he also took part in the 2007 Pan American Games in Brazil. He also represented his country in the team pursuit at various international competitions. At the South American Games 2010 he won the bronze medal in Madison with Carlos Quishpe, as well as at the Pan American Championship in 2012 with José Ragonessi.

In road cycling, he achieved his first major success in 2004, winning the overall ranking of the Vuelta a Ecuador stage race . This was followed by title wins in the road races of the Pan American Championships in 2014 and 2015 and the Ecuadorian Championships in 2007 and 2014. He also won the overall ratings of the Doble Sucre Potosi Grand Prix 2008, the Vuelta al Ecuador 2010, Volta Ciclística Internacional do Rio Grande do Sul 2015 and numerous daily sections international Stage race.
